Have you ever wondered why there are Christians that talk about their healing and other miraculous encounters with God and then their are Christians that say they have never had a personal encounter with God or answer to their prayers?
My husband and I were talking about it this morning. We try to start our day in thankful praise as we learn to receive God’s love into our hearts. We prepare our hearts by drawing in God’s heart and love for us because the greatest thing we have learned this past year is that we have so much more to give others when we prepare our hearts and receive it of God and His Word first.
You can’t give what you don’t have.
Then we lift to Him any cares or concerns we have and turn on our favorite Pastoral program, The Gospel Truth. This morning Pastor Wommack shared that in our spirits we have all spiritual blessings and all our needs met. The problem we as Christians encounter is that we don’t “live” in our spirits – we live in the flesh where there is no good thing.
For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit.
For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. – Rom. 8:5-6
The reason some receive answers from God and have wonderful godly encounters with Him is that they seek Him more than they seek after worldly things. Pastor Wommack says in His new book “Find, Follow and Fulfill God’s Will“;
” It’s true you can’t make God reveal something to you by saying, God tell me what I want to know right now. It doesn’t work like that. But you can prepare your heart.”
This morning JD and I realized that we are beginning to understand what it takes to prepare our hearts and live in our spirit more and more. By putting on what God’s word says, like “put on “the mind of Christ” and “put off the old man which is corrupt”. We put on and put off in our minds, our thinking. We prepare our hearts and work it daily, always…until our bodies and lives follow.
My left knee tries to give me pain sometimes. Since I’ve come to understand what it means to live in my spirit, I renounce what my body (flesh) is trying to tell me. I say “no way knee, you are not going to dictate to me any sickness. I refuse sickness and I claim that Jesus freed me from all pain and sickness by dying on the cross for me. By his stripes I AM HEALED!”.
Sometimes the pain goes away immediately and at times it tries to come back. Sometimes I ignore it and sometimes I repeat my words of faith. The point is, I know the day is fast coming when my spirit faith will absolutely win out over my earthly body and my knee will never hurt again. It took many many years to build fear and bondage in my life. I guess it will take a few days to recondition my heart and mind. BUT I WILL.
It has already worked on other areas of my life and I know when I have SO prepared my heart with the truth of God’s Word that my spirit is greater than my flesh…my knee will conform (mold itself) to God’s will once and for all.
Prepare YOUR heart with the power of God’s Word. When we claim that we are a new spirit creation IN CHRIST, and believe these truths more than we believe the lies the enemy in our bodies or minds try to tell us, we will prevail and God will show us by miracles and answers to prayer.
JD and I are very thankful that now we have the privilege to help others in their walks with God by beginning to sharing from our victories and not just our struggles. Prepare your heart in His Word, putting on the new man in your born again spirits and put off your old man flesh…and live in abundance and prosperity.
